Writing the Pages to Your Life, as You Go Along

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, in my 30 plus years, is that you have to enjoy and embrace the moments when things are going great good.

Within the blink of an eye, life can take a sharp turn left and the next thing you know you’ll find yourself spending quality time in a psych ward, either as a patient or a guest visitor.

I woke up this morning realizing that my quest for changing up my morning routine was gone the moment I created the bootcamp-like schedule at 3am.

I laugh now at the thought that I was really going to start meditation and yoga on only 5 hours of sleep when my body was already used to at least 7 and not looking to downgrade. There is a direct correlation with my mental wellness and sleep.

I no longer have to deal with insomnia, at least not right now. I just need to make sure I don’t overdo it on the shut eye.

I used to get by on as little as 3-4 hours and I’m sure some of you reading will get on your high horse about how you HAVE to make life happen on 5-6 hours.

I don’t compete in the pain olympics anymore so if you want to get sanctimonious about how you’re much better because you’re hustling it on little sleep, go right ahead. I’ll be over here napping and enjoying my rest.

My creativity is also at an all time high. I’m on top of my game and this is when I need to document everything because I am writing the pages of my life every single day.

The lunar eclipse is this Friday in my sun sign. I spent a few minutes today to reflect on what I was doing when the new moon was in Pisces, coincidentally my birthday.

Between now and then, I’ve done a lot of growing but I did not realize that until I paused and clicked rewind on my memory.

We don’t often give ourselves enough credit for the progress we make on a day-to-day basis.

Writing needs to become my every day ritual.

We document memories on social media with photos but all too often those are facades for reality. They don’t paint an authentic picture of what’s really happening.

They’re photoshopped and manipulated to represent what we want to be instead of what actually is.

But the written word…there’s no hiding behind that.

Every word we use tells a story about who we are and what we’re about.

All you need to do is browse a few posts here to realize that I’m a creative, quirky, snarky, optimistic and emo soulpreneur.

When writing the pages to your life you can look at it as “each season for a reason” and break up your chapters by the different milestones in your life.

Sometimes, though, it feels like waking up every single day is an accomplishment to be cherished.

It’s been 6 months since the new moon in Pisces and this week feels like closure on many fronts. Now it’s up to me to keep writing the pages in order to eventually have a book worth reading.
