My Muse Has a Name

You have a name
and if I speak it 3 times you might appear.
But that’s not where I want you to be
because you exist in the only place where you are perfect,
where I am immaculate, flawlessly beautiful.

You have a name
and if I say it out loud you might become real.
But you’re magic to me and I’m not ready to let go
because you represent everything that is right,
where my fantasy is untainted, perfect and passionate.

You have a name
and if I admit to it you might disappear.
And that’s the last thing I need in my life
because you give me the air to breathe another day,
where reality gives me every reason not to.

You have a name
and when I give in, the illusion will be gone.
And that’s going to have to be OK
because your unattainable status is crippling me,
where I value your shadow more than I value the existence of real people.
