Life Is Full of Pivots

Finding momentum is sometimes a double edged sword. You want traction but if you’re resistant to change, then it becomes a thing that you try to sabotage.

After all, change means, well, change.

Something different.

Something other than your comfort zone.

And I am no friend of change either, but I do respect the hell out of its’ power.

For me, making a change means accepting that everything I thought I knew might be wrong. It means taking a hard look at whatever it is that I am doing and realizing that it’s only my perception that makes it my reality.

If I want to wake up early in the mornings, then I might need to try different things to do so. Lunesta, working out at 2am, binge drinking, etc. Heaven’s forbid I go to bed at a reasonable hour.

That would be madness.

When I look at my 28 days to habit series, regardless of what my goal is at that time, I adjust the lens upon which I use to view my progress. My journey is not always clear cut.

Sometimes there are bumps in the road.

Sometimes those bumps give my car a flat tire.

I might have to get off the highway to get it fixed. Or I can leave it on the side of the road and hitchhike. Or maybe I’ll pull into town, ditch the car, and jump on a train or bus or plane.

That’s the beauty of fearless journeys, you don’t care about the means. You just want to complete your voyage.

The ride is exciting and fun because you’re too busy enjoying the sights to worry about something as trivial as a flat tire.

Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to the tech world. They use words like “pivot” whenever the market indicates that an original idea is not necessarily the best one.

So you just dropped 11 months and 5 million on a solution to a non-existent problem? So what. Try again tomorrow with something else. If there’s anything I want to be remembered for, it’s a fearlessness to trying.

As a Pisces, that kind of inquisitiveness is both a blessing and a curse. That’s ok. I can pivot from curse to blessing.
